I still remember the moment we turned off the winding hill road into the welcoming embrace of Hotel Country Villa. The crickets were settling for the night, steam rose from the valley below, and the rustic glow of the villa stood like an invitation. With my brother beside me and winter settling into our bones, I wondered would this place really live up to the dreamy views and warm reviews we’d heard?
Location
Located at a spectacularly high vantage point, Hotel Country Villa gives you that rare feeling of hovering just with the clouds. It has some of the best views of hills and mountains. It is roughly 30 kilometers from Tribhuvan International Airport. A taxi from bhaktapur takes around 45 minutes to Nagarkot, where this hotel is located. Walkable trails near the property lead to panoramic viewing spots if you’re up for exploring.
Design & Ambiance
The airy lobby makes you feel the charm- wood beams, stone accents, and wide windows that let in more sky than walls. The design somehow manages to be both grand and grounded at the same time. You can catch glimpses of the mountains through a framing of potted plants. The hotel feels like a place that has grown with stories, breakfast chatter, and real travelers. The reception lobby was full of travelers who were waiting to check-in and the check-in was very smooth.
Rooms
We had booked a two bed bedroom, and opening the door, it felt like stepping into a warm heaven. The room was large, bright and comfortable. Natural light streamed in as soon as the sun rose, and late into the evening, when we lit the fireplace. The large windows allow for brilliant light. The bathrooms, most with showers, were comfortable and simple. There was enough space to sit and sip tea while watching the light slowly fade over the hills.
Dining & Drinks
Now quietly, let me tell you about breakfast. We walked into the restaurant that offers incredible views across the hills and a solid menu. I’ve eaten many breakfasts, but eating fresh fruit, eggs done just right, steaming local tea while watching the sun emerging out of the hills felt heavenly.They serve Chinese, Nepali, Indian, and Thai dishes. The restaurant looked particularly pretty at breakfast, when sunlight emerged through the clouds and over the hills.
Service
The staff at this resort are charming, ever friendly and always keen to share more about the property. Service is friendly and informal. Check-in was smooth, faster than I expected. Each staff member we encountered was friendly and genuinely seemed to care whether we were comfortable or needed local tips.
Facilities
The hotel offers more than just rooms. There is an outdoor pool and jacuzzi area that beckons during midday warmth, a spa if you want a massage after hiking, and garden spaces perfect for evening strolls or photos. The pool is large enough to lounge around in and soak up the views without feeling crowded. The entire site of this resort was well stocked and clean.
Value for Money
For what we paid, the experience felt worth it. You’re paying partly for the views and the setting—it is one of the best places in Nagarkot to watch the sunrise and sunset. The food quality, service level, and ambiance matched the rate.
Standout Moments & Final Verdict
Two moments stand out most. First, how we sat by the fire in our room, talking until the flames died down and the hills shimmered under starlight. Second, that breakfast—sunrise hues on the horizon and laughter with my brother over eggs and endless cups of tea. If you’re chasing mountain views with comfort and personality, Hotel Country Villa delivers. I would return, especially on a clear winter morning. This is a place best for couples, families, travelers and anyone who finds joy in slow mornings, warm fires, and big vistas.
