The Waterfront Resort sits on the shore of Fewa Lake. It’s 10 to 15 minutes by foot from the lakeside city area. The immediate neighborhood is residential and serene, with other high-end properties and local homes. A notable feature is the private access to the lakefront; guests can step directly from the garden onto a path leading to the water.
Design and Ambiance
The architecture is a thoughtful and elegant homage to Nepali heritage, using traditional pagoda roofs, intricate wood carvings, and local stone. It feels less like a hotel and more like a luxurious Nepali manor. The first impression of grandeur holds up upon closer inspection. The aesthetic is consistent throughout, from the central courtyard with its manicured gardens and lotus ponds to the art and artifacts displayed in nooks and alcoves. This hotel is a luxury retreat, with an updated take on traditional Newari design and hospitality.
Rooms
I booked a Super Deluxe Room with a Lake View, and the reality matched the promise almost perfectly. The room was spacious, with a private balcony that offered an unobstructed and panoramic view of Fewa Lake. Furnishings included a flat-screen TV, a comfortable queen bed topped with white fluffy linens.There’s plenty of space and each room has a bright, modern bathroom. There is an elegant blend of modern comfort and traditional design in the furniture and decor.
Dining & Drinks
You’re totally spoilt for choice when it comes to the culinary side of a stay in this hotel. The fresh fruit, local sel roti, and made-to-order omelets were superb. The coffee was strong and excellent. For dinner, I tried both the Italian restaurant, Al Fresco, and the Nepali specialty restaurant. The wood-fired pizza at Al Fresco was surprisingly authentic. The Lakeside Bar offers an ideal vantage point for sunset.
Service
The staff members were uniformly warm and genuinely eager to help. Check-in was swift and accompanied by a welcome drink. The concierge team was particularly helpful. Small gestures, like staff remembering my name and my preferred breakfast tea, made a significant difference. The service felt personalized and genuine.
Facilities
The sprawling swimming pool, surrounded by gardens, is a central social hub and never felt crowded. The gym iThe spa’s treatment list, which features Ayurvedic and traditional therapies, is extensive. The resort also boasts impressive event spaces, including a large hall and beautiful outdoor areas perfect for weddings. Its sustainability efforts include water conservation measures and support for local communities.
Value for Money
This is not a budget hotel, and your stay will be a significant part of your Nepal travel budget. However, for the level of comfort, the prime location, the quality of the amenities, and the magical view of the lake, it represents strong value for money. There are no unexpected hidden fees. This resort is best suited for couples, families, and travelers seeking a rejuvenating getaway.

My standout moment was a quiet morning on my balcony, watching local fishermen in their wooden boats glide across the water as the early mist burned off the mountain peaks. It was a scene of profound peace that is unforgettable.
